Hi, I'm Linda Hicks, Founder and Owner of Hicks Jewellers and the first thing you need to know about me is I LOVE jewelry! I'm a mother of four grown children, who I also LOVE! I have three sons, one daughter, and two amazing grandchildren. I moved to Brooks Alberta from Ontario at age eighteen after graduation. My two jobs in Brooks before starting a family were working in Banks. First, the Alberta Treasury Bank for two years, then the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce for five years. I then spent the next twenty five years raising our children and running the office for my husband's Urethane Foam Insulation business.
During those years, I volunteered in our community enjoying ten years as a Brooks Kinette, a year as a Zone Kinette Co-Ordinator, Communities in Bloom Board Member, President of Brooks Nursery School, School Board Committees, School Council Chair, and years of fun helping out in my children's classrooms.
For my personal enjoyment I love having family and friends over for meals and visits. I take great pleasure in keeping a beautiful yard that is full of flowers all summer. I enjoying reading a good book, camping with my family, and traveling with my husband to our favorite spot in Mexico during the winter.
I opened Hicks Jewellers Inc. in November 2012 with the help of my husband, Reg. We heard a jewelry store that had been in our community for years was closing due to retirement. Brooks is a remarkable community that I know well and that knows me. It was the perfect opportunity for a woman who LOVES jewelry to open her own store! The jewelry industry is not only beautiful but fulfilling. Now that I have my daughter Jacqueline working alongside me, as well as my wonderful staff, I can honestly say Hicks Jewellers is the perfect place for me to go to be happy everyday.
